5 Basic Tips to Keeping Kids Safer Online

  1. Set up clear, simple, easy-to-read RULES for Internet use. Post them on or near the monitor.

  2. Communicate with kids about the DANGERS on the internet, WHAT personal information is and WHY it should never be given out.

  3. Use PARENTAL CONTROLS and FILTERING software to try and control who and what reach your kids while online.

  4. Stay INVOLVED and TALK to your kids about what they are doing online.

  5. LOCATE the computer in a CENTRAL location, never in a child's bedroom.
