Public Network and WiFi Safety
After watching the Public Network/WiFi Safety video see how well you do on the following questions:
Q: If you were on your laptop at an Internet café, what could you do to ensure that you are using a safe WiFi connection?
A: Look for a sign that says there is free WiFi available at that cafe. This way you know the WiFi service is legitimate and not just someone who might be trying to trick you.
Q: What else could you do to make it safer to be on a public WiFi?
A: You could turn off “File Sharing” and turn on your “Firewall” which both helps prevent unwanted access to your computer files by others.
Q: How can you tell that you are using an encrypted web site?
A: The web site starts with “HTTPS.” Web-based e-mail services like Gmail, Yahoo, and Hotmail are examples.
Q: How can you make sure that your Facebook account is secure?
A: Go to your Facebook Account, then Account Security, the select “Browse Facebook on a secure connection.”
